LME aluminium price slipped to US$2208/t amid continued decline in aluminium opening stock; SHFE price further gained US$11/t

Three-month LME aluminium rose 0.36 per cent to close at US$ 2,256 per tonne on Thursday. It is expected to trade between US$ 2,230-2,260 per tonne today.

LME aluminium cash (bid) price and LME official settlement price decreased by US$ 12.50 per tonne on Thursday, March 25, to stand at US$ 2208 per tonne. 3-months bid price and 3-months offer price stood at US$ 2235.50 per tonne, down by US$ 13.50 per tonne from US$ 2249 per tonne on March 24. Dec 22 bid price and Dec 22 offer price hovered around US$ 2251 per tonne on March 25 compared to US$ 2261 per tonne on the previous day.

The LME aluminium opening stock declined from 1946550 tonnes to 1934425 tonnes on Thursday, March 25. Live Warrants totalled 1278250 tonnes, while Cancelled Warrants stood at 656175 tonnes.

LME aluminium 3-months Asian Reference Price came in at US$ 2237.54 per tonne as of March 25.

SHFE Aluminium Price Trend

Benchmark aluminium price for SHFE continued to increase by US$ 11 per tonne to close the week on Friday, March 26, at US$ 2645 per tonne.

The most-liquid SHFE 2105 aluminium contract fell 0.2 per cent to settle at RMB 17,125 per tonne on Thursday night, and is likely to trade between RMB 17,000-17,300 per tonne today. Spot still continued the pattern of discount.
