LME aluminium price decreases by US$39/t to settle at US$2597/t; SHFE price dips by US$3/t
Three-month LME aluminium opened at US$2,630 per tonne on Wednesday, December 15, and closed at US$2,601 per tonne, down $21 per tonne or 0.8 per cent.
On Wednesday, December 15, LME aluminium cash (bid) price and LME aluminium official settlement price decreased for the second day in a row this week by US$39 per tonne to stand at US$2,596 per tonne and US$2,597 per tonne, respectively. 3-month bid price and 3-month offer price slipped US$40.50 per tonne and US$41 per tonne to hover around US$2,589.50 per tonne and US$2,590 per tonne. December 22 bid price closed at US$2,583 per tonne and December 22 offer price settled at US$2,588 per tonne.
LME aluminium opening stock increased to 990550 tonnes. Live warrants hiked to 861800 tonnes but Cancelled Warrants dropped to 128750 tonnes.
LME aluminium 3-month Asian Reference Price stood at US$2,608.37 per tonne.
SHFE Aluminium Price Trend
On Thursday, December 16, the benchmark aluminium price for SHFE dipped by US$3 per tonne to settle at US$2,993 per tonne.
The most-traded SHFE 2201 aluminium closed down 1.35 per cent or RMB 260 per tonne to RMB 18960 per tonne, with open interest down 14638 lots to 151729 lots.
