LME aluminium offer price gains $2.5/t; stocks down 1,450t

LME aluminium prices on September 2 reflected only marginal shifts across cash, 3-month and forward contracts, while stocks saw a modest decline.

The LME aluminium cash bid price, on September 2, was recorded at USD 2,614 per tonne, up from USD 2,612 per tonne, replicating a difference of USD 2 per tonne or 0.07 per cent from the previous day. Simultaneously, LME aluminium offer price on the same day was seen at USD 2,615 per tonne, up from USD 2,612.5 per tonne, showing a difference of USD 2.5 per tonne or 0.09 per cent from the prior day. 

On the same day, 3-month bid price registered at USD 2,611 per tonne, which on the day before was seen at USD 2,609 per tonne, resulting in a total difference of USD 2 per tonne or 0.07 per cent. At the same time span, the 3-month offer price also replicated a similar difference, which grew up from USD 2,610 per tonne to USD 2,612 per tonne. 

December 26 LME bid price on September 2 was noted at USD 2,658 per tonne, which on the previous day was at USD 2,657 per tonne, representing a slight difference of USD 1 per tonne or 0.04 per cent. A similar trend has been seen in the December 26 offer price, where on September 2, the price was recorded at USD 2,663 per tonne, which on the day prior was at USD 2,662 per tonne, showing a slight upward movement by USD 1 per tonne or 0.04 per cent. 

The 3-month Asian Reference Price closed at USD 2,619 per tonne, which grew upward from USD 2,611 per tonne as recorded on the previous day, reflecting a total difference of USD 8 per tonne or 0.30 per cent. 

The September 2 LME aluminium opening stock was recorded to be at 479,600 tonnes, down from 481,050 tonnes, showing a difference of 1,450 tonnes or 0.30 per cent. Live warrants on both the first days of September stood at 468,750 tonnes, showing no change. Cancelled warrants fell by 1,450 tonnes or 0.30 per cent on September 2, down to 10,850 tonnes from 12,300 tonnes. 

Like the live warrants, LME alumina platts also showed no difference in the first two days of September, where the price stood at USD 358 per tonne.
