LME aluminium cash bid drops $22 to $3,203 as Asian reference price falls 1.38%

LME aluminium prices extended their decline on September 30, with cash and futures contracts moving lower. The Asian Reference Price also fell, while LME stocks remained broadly unchanged. Alumina Platts prices, however, rose sharply.
The cash bid fell 0.68 per cent to USD 3,203 per tonne from USD 3,225 per tonne previously, while the cash offer declined 0.67 per cent to USD 3,204 per tonne from USD 3,225.50 per tonne.
Three-month aluminium prices also weakened, with the bid down 0.71 per cent at USD 3,208 per tonne from USD 3,231 per tonne. The offer slipped 0.68 per cent to USD 3,210 per tonne from USD 3,232 per tonne.

The December 2027 contract followed the same direction. Both the bid and offer price decreased 0.63 per cent. The bid price fell to USD 3,143 per tonne from USD 3,163 per tonne, while the offer settled at USD 3,148 per tonne from USD 3,168 per tonne.
The Asian Reference Price registered the steepest decline, falling 1.38 per cent to USD 3,169.50 per tonne on September 30 from USD 3,214 per tonne previously.

LME aluminium opening stocks were unchanged at 241,375 tonnes, while live warrants held at 226,675 tonnes. Cancelled warrants also remained unchanged at 14,700 tonnes.
In contrast, the alumina Platts price climbed 1.50 per cent to USD 360.40 per tonne from USD 355.07 per tonne.
