
LME aluminium opened at US$2,976 per tonne on Wednesday and closed at US$2,945 per tonne, a decrease of US$38 per tonne or 1.27 per cent.

On Wednesday, January 12, both LME aluminium cash (bid) price and LME aluminium official settlement price yet again crossed US$3,000 per tonne by gaining US$54 per tonne and US$53 per tonne, respectively. While the former stood at US$3,002 per tonne, the latter came in at US$3,003 per tonne. 3-month bid price and 3-month offer price also settled higher at US$3,012 per tonne and US$3,014 per tonne, respectively. December 22 bid price and December 22 offer price totalled at US$2,775 per tonne and US$2,780 per tonne.
LME aluminium opening stock decreased to 898525 tonnes. Live warrants and Cancelled warrants closed at 512950 tonnes and 385575 tonnes.
LME aluminium 3-month Asian Reference Price came in at US$2,981.60 per tonne.

SHFE Aluminium Price Trend
On Thursday, January 13, the benchmark aluminium price for SHFE decreased by US$21 per tonne after six consecutive days of hike to stand at US$3,383 per tonne.
The most-traded SHFE 2202 aluminium closed up 1.01 per cent or RMB 215 per tonne to RMB 21,605 per tonne, with open interest down 8084 lots to 184594 lots.
Overnight, the most-traded SHFE 2202 aluminium contract opened at RMB 21,665 per tonne, with the highest at RMB 21,925 per tonne before closing at RMB 21,580 per tonne, down by RMB 70 per tonne or 0.32 per cent.
