LS Cable and LS Eco Energy are set to supply medium-voltage (MV) aluminium power cables to the U.S. market for the first time, strengthening their presence in the region. On the 6th, the companies announced a $25 million (approximately 36.3 billion won) deal to provide 35kV aluminium cables to U.S. solar EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) firms.

These cables will be used to build power grids for solar plants across states like California, New Jersey, and Indiana. Designed for durability and reliable high-voltage transmission, they perform steadily even in extreme conditions, including high temperatures, heavy rainfall, and dust.
An official of the company said, "The cable affiliates such as LS Cable and LS Eco-Energy, as well as heating wire, do not use Chinese aluminium and copper in consideration of the quality of raw materials and supply chain stability. We plan to expand the market to not only solar power but also various power infrastructure projects."
LS Cable & System and LS Eco Energy have actively responded to the growing U.S. solar market by developing high-quality aluminium cables and securing UL certification, the U.S. safety standard. This latest order is expected to strengthen the companies' competitiveness, aligning with the U.S. government's "de-China" policy. Recently, the U.S. imposed a 45 per cent tariff on Chinese cables and tightened regulations on indirect exports involving Chinese materials.
