
According to the latest report from Aluminium Association, U.S. and Canada imported 863 million pounds of aluminium ingot, scrap and mill products in July 2017, up 31.8 % from July 2016. YTD imports were up 28.8 % to 5,938 million pounds, while exports were up 4.6 % to 3,625 million pounds.

U.S. and Canadian producers shipped 356.5 million pounds of can stock during August 2017, down 4.7 % from the August 2016. On a month on month comparison, shipments rose 2.3 % over July 2017. YTD shipments through August 2017 stood at 2,753.5 million pounds, down 2.7 % from the same period of 2016. YoY, producer shipments of can stock to U.S. markets decreased 5.0 % to 302.1 million pounds, while exports were off 3.0 % to 54.5 million pounds.
Shipments of Aluminium Foil by U.S. and Canadian producers stood at 86.0 million pounds during August 2017, up 1.0 % YoY. On a month on month comparison, shipments rose 2.0 % over the July 2017 total of 84.3 million pounds. YTD shipments through August 2017 stood at 655.3 million pounds, down 2.3 % from the same period of 2016.

Estimated net shipments of Aluminium Sheet and Plate by U.S. and Canadian producers stood 740.9 million pounds during August 2017, off 2.4 % from the August 2016 total of 759.1 million pounds. Compared to the previous month, shipments increased 7.1 % over the July 2017 revised total of 692.0 million pounds. YTD shipments through August 2017 stood at 5,776.7 million pounds, up 2.0 % from the same period of 2016. Shipments of Can Stock stood at 356.5 million pounds during August 2017, down 4.7 % YoY.

Shipments of Aluminium Powder and Paste to domestic markets by domestic producers, including imports stood at 5.47 million pounds during August 2017, down 25.7 % from August 2016. On a month on month comparison, shipments were off 18.2 %. YTD shipments through August 2017 stood at 53.48 million pounds, up 4.9 % from the same period of 2016.
Estimated shipments of Aluminium Forgings and Impacts by U.S. and Canadian producers stood at 32.4 million pounds during August 2017, up 19.2 % YoY On a month on month comparison, shipments rose 25.4 %. YTD shipments through August 2017 stood at 240.0 million pounds, up 12.7% from the same period of 2016.
