In 2021, Eitan Na'eh was appointed as Israel's first ambassador to Bahrain, this emerged a year after the two countries agreed to harmonize relations. However, Aluminium Bahrain (ALBA) is the first aluminium smelter in the Middle-East region, started its commercial operations back in 1971.

The diplomat did not spell out the volume or the value of Israel's aluminium imports from Bahrain. According to Na'eh, Israel's national airline El Al should commence flights to Manama soon, while Bahrain's Gulf Air in September 2021announced the launch of direct flights to Tel Aviv.
