According to the data released by the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO), aluminium ingot production in Iran in the first nine months of the current calendar year (ended on December 31, 2021) rose 23 per cent year-on-year. From 325,223 tonnes a year ago, aluminium ingot production in Iran grew to 400,481 tonnes during March-December.

As was previously announced by IMIDRO, aluminium ingot production in Iran had grown 61 per cent during the last Iranian calendar year 1399 (ended on March 20, 2021), compared to the preceding year.
Aluminium ingot production in the year 1398 had decreased by 8 per cent Y-o-Y to 278,318 tonnes.
IMIDRO data also showed that Iran’s one of the top primary aluminium producers, Iranian Aluminum Company (IRALCO), had the best performance in 1399 producing 185,000 tonnes.
By the end of the last quarter of the current Iranian calendar (March 20, 2022), the annual production of aluminium ingot is likely to increase by 63 per cent.
Last year, during the inauguration ceremony of Iran’s biggest aluminium production complex, the former industry minister had said the country’s aluminium production would increase double with the commencement of the complex.
The official has estimated the value of the Iranian mining industry’s production at about $22 billion, saying the country ranks 18th among the world’s top aluminium producers. They also say that Iran is likely to grab the 14th position once the new biggest complex comes into operation.
Iran is also reportedly planning to achieve annual aluminium ingot production of 1.5 million tonnes by the end of Iranian calendar year 1404 (March 2025-26).
