Hydro Extrusion aluminium production factories in Italy receive ASI certifications

The ASI Chain of Custody Standard had been accredited at both of Hydro Extrusion Italy's aluminium production factories in Feltre and Ornago. Each location has also been recertified in accordance with ASI's Performance Standard.

The Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI) aspires to see sustainability and human rights values become more deeply ingrained in supply chains. Its Performance Standard acknowledges appropriate aluminium production, procurement, and management.

The Chain of Custody (CoC) Standard specifies the standards for establishing a chain of custody for CoC material, such as ASI Aluminum, as it moves through the value chain to downstream industries. It not only certifies the locations and their operations, but it also certifies the actual metal they process when it comes from ASI-certified suppliers.

“The work our plants have done to earn these important certifications reflects strong collaboration between our departments and an outstanding group of dedicated and customer-minded employees. This adds further value to our customer offerings. We are the only extrusion company in the Italian market that can offer sustainable aluminium solutions certified by a third party,” said general manager Luca Bertola.

The Ornago factory has two extrusion presses and serves over 700 clients in Italy's industrial market segment with high-complexity aluminium profiles. Hydro has two presses in Feltre, as well as aluminium recycling operations. Fabrication and surface treatment operations are also part of the company's client offering in Feltre.

At the two locations, Hydro employs more than 300 workers. In July 2019, the sibling factories received ASI Performance Standard accreditation for the first time.

“These achievements state clearly to the market that doing business the right way is what we are all about,” stated executive vice president Paul Warton, who leads Hydro’s Extrusions business area.
