On February 28, Hydro finally acquired Hueck after receiving clearance from the German and Austrian competition regulators. The two companies signed the agreement for the same on December 2022. As per the reports, the acquisition will increase Hydro's market share in Germany and other European countries. It also established a strong foundation for future expansion in the extrusions and building systems sectors.

The greatest market in Europe for building systems and aluminium extrusions is found in Germany. Hydro will have five extrusion factories, three recycling sites, and 2,000 workers nationwide with this acquisition. These 2000 professionals are experts in developing windows, doors, and façade solutions for the building and construction sector.
"Hueck is in many ways a perfect fit for Hydro Extrusions. With our new colleagues on board, we instantly grow our market share in the important German markets for both Building Systems and Extrusions. We look forward to meeting the people and together we will write new chapters in the history of both companies," said Executive Vice President of Hydro Extrusions, Paul Warton.
With around 500 employees, Hueck is a family-owned business in Lüdenscheid, Germany. The company is known globally for building and extrusion systems, including aluminium profile systems for windows, doors, and façade applications.
Having 100 manufacturing facilities spread across 40 countries and 21,000 employees, Hydro Extrusions is a market leader in the aluminium extrusion industry. One of Hydro's major development areas, Hydro Extrusions, has announced growth investments totalling NOK 1.9 billion for 2022.
