At the Romanian facility in Santana, Hammerer Aluminum Industries invested EUR 4.5 million on a third melting furnace for recovering material for casting. The new melting furnace has provided a considerable rise in capacity since the beginning of 2022. This brings the HAI Group's recycling and remelting capability to 250,000 tonnes per year.

Hammerer Aluminum Industries (HAI), an aluminium specialist, responded to the growing demand for lightweight aluminium products by investing in a third recycling furnace at its Santana facility.
Because of the strong demand for aluminium lightweight goods, the HAI Group has decided to invest in a multi-chamber furnace for recovering material.
“We were able to implement the project quickly and put the melting furnace into operation at the beginning of the year as planned. This means that we can now supply the market with high-quality recycling material at full capacity,” said HAI CEO Rob van Gils is convinced.
The HAI Group entrusted the concept and implementation of the high-tech recycling melting furnace to Hertwich Engineering GmbH of Braunau, Upper Austria. The new recycling facility achieves the crucial balance of low energy use and optimum metal output. Hammerer Aluminum Industries' sustainability approach incorporates this operational premise.
Hammerer Aluminum Industries' sustainability plan is a major concern. The HAI Group is driving the transition to a sustainable circular economy in the aluminium sector with a strong commitment, inventive strength, and significant investments.

“Customers and investors are demanding a real transformation towards sustainable management, in ecological and social terms. The topics of CO2 emissions and the circular economy will continue to gain in importance. With a recycling rate of up to 80%, our company is a pioneer in the aluminium industry. We are highly motivated to further advance these processes”, added CEO Rob van Gils the importance of investing in another recycling furnace.
