Polestar 0 is a project that aims to create a genuinely climate-neutral car by 2030. Gränges will contribute to the research and development of circular and low-climate impact aluminium materials and processes through its expertise in rolled aluminium.
Jörgen Rosengren, the CEO of Gränges, said, "We seek to collaborate with companies who share our sustainability ambitions and net-zero targets. To get there, we need to accelerate all parts of the value chain, from material sourcing, recycling, product development and production processes to use the end product. The partnership for Polestar 0 is an excellent example of how we use our expertise in sustainable materials and processes to help customers and partners on their decarbonization journeys."
Gränges' strategy is based on sustainability, and the company has demonstrated strong progress toward its ambitious 2040 targets for circularity and climate neutrality. In close collaboration with customers and partners, the company is constantly driving the development of lighter, brighter, more sustainable solutions.
In 2021, the Polestar 0 project was introduced with the idea that the auto industry required a complete overhaul. While moving to electric cars eliminates pollutants from the tailpipe, Polestar understands the critical need to address emissions from production. The ambitious goal of the Polestar 0 project is to eliminate all sources of CO2e along the whole supply chain, from raw material extraction to the production of materials and vehicles, delivery, and end-of-life, without relying on dishonest offsetting schemes.
Hans Pehrson, the Head of the Polestar 0 project, said, "We are excited to announce Gränges as a new partner on the Polestar 0 project. Their unique expertise in rolled aluminium technology will be a valuable asset to our team. Technology is highly needed in various areas of modern electric vehicles."
"We look forward to working closely with Gränges as we strive towards creating a genuinely climate-neutral car by 2030."
