Global aluminium cans production reaches around 285 billion in 2016

According to a new research report by Technavio, the global aluminium cans market has grown at a CAGR of around 2.7 per cent during 2009-2016. The total aluminium cans production volume stood at around 285 billion in 2016.

As per the study, the beverage sector currently accounts for the majority of the global aluminium cans consumption, the food sector being the second.

The report segmented geography-wise global aluminium cans consumption. North America is the biggest consumer of aluminium cans accounting for more than one-third of the total global consumption. North America is followed by Western Europe and Asia-Pacific.

Rexam represents the biggest producer accounting for more than one-fifth of the total global aluminium cans market followed by Crown and Ball.

Also, Technavio's analysts forecast the global metal cans market for food and beverage industry to grow at a CAGR of 3.06% during the period 2017-2021.
