Giga Solar sees 30% of 1H11 sales from silver aluminum paste

Taiwan-based solar cell conductive paste maker Giga Solar has reported EPS of NT$14.86 (US$0.51) for first-half 2011. Silver aluminum paste accounted for 30% of total revenues and Giga Solar expects the figure to increase to 50%. Silver conductive paste will be the main focus of research and development in second half of 2011, Giga Solar said.
Wen-Jui Huang, general manager of Giga Solar, indicated that on a unit base the revenues from silver aluminum paste is 20 times the revenues from aluminum paste. But the amount of silver aluminum paste used on the same amount of solar cells is only one fifteenth of aluminum paste used. Therefore, the profitability of the two pastes is very similar.
Huang pointed out that Giga Solar's aluminum paste owns 30% of the global market currently. The market share will continue to grow due to increasing demand from the market, added Huang.
Industry sources estimated Giga Solar's monthly revenues in second half of 2011 to reach NT$400 million, according to the growth rates of silver aluminum and aluminum pastes.
