
Germany’s import of aluminium powder and flakes are reportedly witnessing a year-on-year growth. According to global export-import data, Germany in 2017 had imported 31,135 tonnes, up almost 8 percent from 28,885 tonnes in 2016. This year is estimated to record no exception either. The total import volume is likely to be at 32,775 tonnes, up 5.26 per cent year-on-year.
Aluminium powder and flakes are widely used in industrial, automotive, chemical, construction, explosives, defence, aerospace and other sectors. According to the Technavio's report, the global aluminium powders, pastes, and flakes market to grow at a CAGR of 4.87% during the period 2016-2020.
{alcircleadd}In 2017, the top exporter of aluminium powder and flakes to Germany was the Russian Federation, which delivered 13,590 tonnes in total. Austria ranked next supplying 7,596 tonnes, followed by France and Poland 1,392 tonnes and 1,310 tonnes, respectively.

Even this year, the Russian Federation is estimated to remain the mainstay as it is likely to deliver 14,842 tonnes in total. This shows Russia’s aluminium powder and flakes export to Germany will increase by 9.21 per cent year-on-year, found global export-import data. Austria is estimated to rank the second highest, same as that of the previous year, but the volume to grow 11.2 per cent to 8,447 tonnes. Italy is estimated to replace France this year as the third highest aluminium powder and flakes exporter to Germany. The country this year is anticipated to export 1,415 tonnes in total, followed by Poland 1,288 tonnes, down by almost 2 per cent from the previous year.
