Ford F-150 enters Tucson, receives warm reception

The Ford F-150 is slowly but surely making way to the dealers and the latest roll-out has been to Tucson where it has apparently received a warm reception.

Although no one is quite sure about what the final verdict on the all-aluminium pick up truck will be, the general manager of the area’s biggest dealer Steve Smith says that the initial response has been very good with more test drives that even the new Mustang with people almost lining up for it.

It is a general trend among customers to avoid new models or major revamps as the they may have bugs that may need to be worked out. Although this tendency might work against the new pick up but Ford believes the fuel-efficiency and the advanced technologies used will compel the customers to shift their loyalties to the new model.

Besides, the lightweight and high strength promised by the company, the F-150 also promises better handling, faster acceleration and quick stoppings. There is also an added adaptive cruise-control technology which automatically slows down the vehicle when it gets too close to the cars ahead and speeds up when the path is clear.

The possibility of high repair costs of the aluminium body is balanced with the company’s assurance that the military-grade aluminium used in the vehicle is more resistant to minor dents than steel. Overall, analysts, experts and dealers are unable to reach a consensus on whether the new bold move is a grand success or not and would need to have more cars on the road to take the final decision but the initial responses seem to be positive.
