The Chinese tech giant Xiaomi has reportedly unveiled an electric bicycle named Himo C20. It is a pedal assisted e-bike that comes with an aluminium frame and thus, weighs just 21 Kgs. Specially designed for daily city use, Himo C20 e-bike provides a range of around 80 Kms, powered by a 36V 10Ah lithium-ion battery that can hold up to 360 Wh of electric charge. According to the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers data, the drop in China's new light-vehicle sales slowed down slightly in March though it continued to decline. Sales dropped 6.9% to 2.02 million last month after slumping 17% in January and February. The sales have dropped consecutively for nine months. In March, multipurpose vehicle sales fell 14% to some 151,600 while sedan sales dropped 7.5% to about 949,300. Crossovers and SUVs have registered a drop of 5.8% to around 867,800. A new blend of aluminium alloy has been developed by engineers from Fiat Chrysler, Mexican engine parts supplier Nemak in collaboration with Tennessee's Oak Ridge National Laboratory for cylinder blocks and heads. The new alloy will raise the optimum temperature range from 390 degrees currently to about 572 degrees. Hotter running engines are likely to offer better fuel economy and control emissions.
