Ardagh Group, a Luxembourg-based producer of glass and metal containers, has reportedly agreed to combine its good and speciality metal packaging business with one of the world’s largest extruded aluminium containers producers Exal Corporation. As per the report, they will together form a new metal packaging company Trivium Packaging, which will be one of the world’s largest metal packaging companies. At the sixth annual Monaco Solar & Energy Boat Challenge on July 6th to 7th, the Yacht Club de Monaco (YCM), in presence of HSH Prince Albert II - the yacht club's President, revealed that it was planning to construct the first Zero Emission Committee Boat. China Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure Promotion Alliance data on Wednesday, July 10, shows that by the end of June 2019, China had over 1 million charging piles or power ports for electric vehicles, up 69.3 per cent year on year. For public charging piles, members of the alliance added 10,926 units last month, which brought the total number to 412,000 units, 51.5 per cent higher from the previous year. Ford has adopted a “mixed materials” strategy to shed weight on the 2020 Explorer SUV available on sale this summer. “Weight was a factor in every decision we made,” Explorer chief engineer Bill Gubing said. Sales of passenger vehicles in China stood at 1.73 million in June, a decrease of 7.8 per cent year on year, according to data from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM) released on Wednesday July 10. In May, CAAM data showed that sales of passenger vehicles shrank 17.4 per cent on the year, to some 1.56 million units. Total sales of automobiles came in at 2.06 million units in June, a drop of 9.6 per cent from the same month a year earlier, data from the CAAM showed. China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) data shows that China’s new energy vehicle (NEV) sales in June recorded month-on-month growth by 38.7 per cent and year-on-year by 98.7 per cent to stand at 134,000 units. In the previous month as well, China’s new energy vehicle (NEV) sales had registered a year-on-year rise by 5.4 per cent to come in at 97,000 units. This had brought the total sales of new energy vehicles during January-May stood at 442,000 units, up 58 per cent from the same period last year.
