Norway will provide a guarantee of up to NOK 150 million (USD 16.08 million) to support revenue security for the planned 255 MW Thakadu solar project in South Africa, helping reduce the risk faced by investors in the renewable energy development. The guarantee will be provided to Lyra Energy, an electricity sales platform jointly owned by Scatec, Standard Bank and Stanlib. It will cover the risk of companies buying electricity from the solar plant failing to make their payments. The agreement, announced on September 14, 2026, is the first involving a private company under Norway's renewable energy guarantee mechanism. The NOK 5 billion (USD 536 million) programme is designed to encourage greater private investment in renewable energy projects in developing countries by taking on part of...
The latest escalation in the US-Canada trade dispute is putting pressure on one of North America's most deeply integrated manufacturing networks, with auto-parts makers facing higher costs and growing uncertainty over where and how components should be produced. The two countries have spent decades building an automotive supply chain in which parts and materials routinely cross the border multiple times before reaching a finished vehicle. The latest tariff measures, including duties on aluminium and steel, threaten to disrupt that model and could force suppliers to reconsider long-established production routes. The immediate challenge for automakers and their suppliers is deciding whether to absorb higher costs in the short term or make expensive changes to their supply chains. For...

Bravo Sierra produces world-class body care products specially crafted for military families and veterans. Recently, they've released body washes in 16-ounce aluminium wash bottles with assorted pumps, suitable for reuse. Once the seal is broken, the user can insert the pump and use the recyclable aluminium can for eternity. These Bravo Sierra body washes are mainly available in two different flavours; one is Citrus and Cedarwood, and the other is White Vetiver and Cedarwood. The names indicate that each fragrance will have an earthy undertone, which men very much prefer. The entire scheme might look excessively flashy, but there are valid reasons for this sudden swap from single-use bottles to an entirely refillable spectrum. Aluminium is infinitely recyclable, and recycled aluminium...

A Dutch Enterprise, Savage Rivale, has recently revealed their Coastrunner EV, which has been modelled to reinstate the Mini Moke and Meyer Manx models in a brand new all-electric version. As sources claim, this open-air beach buggy has been constructed on an aluminium space-frame chassis with an auxiliary steel roll cage and protection bars. The car has no doors and has a four-person capacity. The top of the car has been created out of fabric and is flexible. An aluminium space frame is created out of extruded aluminium sections, aluminium sheets, and vacuum die-cast components of various thicknesses and lengths. Extremely upgraded technology is required to fabricate an aluminium body frame...

On Tuesday, October 25, state senators of Nebraska, Curt Friesen and Steve Halloran, updated the Hall County Board of Commissioners on the ongoing aluminium crisis. The scarcity of aluminium can be linked to the problems in the supply chains brought on by the pandemic, which is causing difficulties in producing new license plates. Nebraska is a state in the Midwestern region of the United States and, as per the reports, was expected to receive new license plates in the coming years. Senator Friesen discussed how they opted to deal with the shortages, which ultimately required that 13 counties not receive all their plates at once. He claims that a staged method would now be used to distribute each letter series, which is the best mitigating strategy they examined. "There is about 400,000...

The third hull in the Firstline family from VisionF Yachts, the all-aluminium-built VisionF 80 BLCK, was on display at both the Cannes Yachting Festival and Monaco Yacht Show. The outside lines of the VisionF 80 BLCK, especially when paired with the matte black painting in the Black Edition, are one of the yacht's most striking features. The external surfaces of a composite boat would get uncomfortably hot as a result, whereas the aluminium hull effectively dissipates surplus heat into the sea. One of their key benefits is the enormous amount of main deck space on catamarans, particularly for family cruising. The VisionF Black Edition is slightly less than 24 metres long, with a maximum beam of 9.9 metres and a shallow draught of 0.80 metres. It has a roomy cockpit area with seating for...

The well-acclaimed Phantom Coupé is the precursor to the Spectre and has been tested to support a driving range of 520 km on a single charge. Not only does the Spectre flaunt a lightweight aluminium space-frame chassis, but it is also 30 per cent more rigid because of the inclusion of extruded aluminium sections and a battery embedded in the original framework. An aluminium space frame is created out of extruded aluminium sections, aluminium sheets, and vacuum die-cast components of various thicknesses and lengths. Extremely upgraded technology is required to fabricate an aluminium body...

On the occasion of Stockholm Design Week, Fredrik Paulsen, a Swedish designer, created the new 'Chair One' for his Stockholm-based company Joy Objects. The chair was re-released in a limited edition for Très Bien to coincide with the brand's newly renovated home in London's Soho. According to the Brazilian body, which brings together the automobile, light commercial, truck, bus, agricultural and construction machinery manufacturers National Association of Automotive Vehicle Manufacturers (Anfavea) reported that in 2021, the auto industry's production witnessed an 11.6% upswing against 2020 to 2.2 million units. However, it has been acknowledged as a marginal improvement but still below the potential for domestic and foreign demand. Truck sales increased 43.5%, pickup sales increased 25.1%, and van sales increased 22.8% on the balance sheet, while car sales dropped 3.6% and made passenger cars the most affected, majorly due to the global semiconductor shortage crisis. Concurrently, the production of processed aluminium is also winged up. The increase occurred in...

The Sestriere Scandium bike by Spoon Customs, built by hand in Italy from triple-butted Dedacciai Scandium and 7005 aluminium tubing, was unveiled at the London Bespoke Handmade Bike Show. According to the manufacturer, the new model will allow for a personalised build for each rider and can be assembled into a complete bike equipped with Zipp 303 S wheels and SRAM Rival eTap. Despite its exotic name, Dedacciai's tubing contains only 0.1 per cent to 0.15 per cent of scandium, with aluminium making up most of the alloy followed by zinc and magnesium. Due to its relative ease of welding and ability to require less expensive heat treating, the 7005 wrought aluminium alloy is used in bicycle frames. However, it is harder to form, making manufacturing more challenging. ‘The big brands have...
