End-user weekly: GMG and Rio Tinto join to develop graphene aluminium-ion batteries for the mining and minerals industry

The end user segment has seen various exciting advancements this week. Graphene Manufacturing Group (GMG) and Rio Tinto partnered to advance the development of graphene aluminium-ion batteries for the mining and minerals industry. GMG's batteries are designed for heavy mobile equipment and grid energy storage in mining operations. The Joint Development Agreement (JDA) aims to co-develop GMG's Graphene Aluminium-Ion battery pouch cell into an initial battery pack/module proof of concept. Rio Tinto has committed an investment of A$6 million and technical and operational criteria contributions. Ball Corporation, a major aluminium beverage can producer in the USA, has acquired a manufacturing and warehousing property located at 124 Carson Road near Jefferson State Community College in Pinson. This industrial zone will help Ball Corporation expand its capacity.
