EGA signs agreement with Gulftainer to expand UAE aluminium exports to 300,000t

Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) and Gulftainer have signed an agreement to expand aluminium exports through the UAE’s East Coast, with EGA set to route up to 250,000 tonnes of aluminium through the region in the first year.

The volume is expected to increase to up to 300,000 tonnes in the second year, while shipments could rise further in subsequent years. The agreement forms part of EGA’s strategy to strengthen the efficiency and resilience of its outbound logistics as the company continues to grow and serve customers in global markets.

Under the agreement, Gulftainer will further develop its port capabilities to accommodate EGA’s requirements and handle the additional aluminium export volumes.

The new arrangement adds to EGA’s efforts to diversify its outbound logistics and support reliable deliveries to international customers. EGA supplies aluminium to more than 400 customers in over 50 countries worldwide and sold more than 2.83 million tonnes of cast metal in 2025.

Abdulnasser Bin Kalban, Chief Executive Officer of Emirates Global Aluminium, said, “EGA is the biggest ‘premium aluminium’ producer in the world, and our customers in more than 50 countries need our metal. We have already made considerable progress diversifying our outbound logistics to ensure reliable deliveries. Today’s agreement with Gulftainer is another important step forward.”

For Gulftainer, the agreement will involve further development of its port capabilities to support EGA’s growing logistics requirements and strengthen the East Coast as a route for UAE aluminium exports.

Gulftainer is a UAE-headquartered provider of integrated maritime and logistics solutions, operating a global network of ports, terminals, logistics centres, warehouses and transport facilities. It was established in Sharjah in 1976 and is a subsidiary of the UAE business group Crescent Enterprises.

Its services include freight forwarding, customs clearance, consolidation, warehousing and transportation.
