The brand known for its cutting-edge vehicles has introduced an aluminium suitcase collection, drawing both aesthetic and engineering inspiration from one of Stuttgart's most celebrated creations: the 911 Targa. The word "Stuttgart" in the Porsche logo directly references the city of Stuttgart, Germany, home to Porsche's headquarters.
For anyone who dreams of owning a Porsche, one model of the sports car edition which often comes to mind is the iconic 911—a replica of thrilling performance and everyday practicality for the past 60 years.
Dubbed as the Roadster Aluminum collection, the suitcase is inspired by Targa's iconic brushed aluminium roll bar—which redefined convertible design in 1965 as the first of its kind. Available in three sizes (a 40L carry-on and two checked options at 72L and 102L), to make this iconic vision a reality, Porsche Design partnered with Italian luxury luggage specialist BRIC'S.
Ditching the typical rugged look of aluminium luggage, the collection opts for a cleaner, more refined silhouette by eliminating visible hardware such as rivets and corner joints. Instead, it features stamped exterior panels affixed to a reinforced frame, accented with sleek horizontal lines on both the front and back—an homage to the aerodynamic contours of the Porsche 911.
True to Porsche's design philosophy, the suitcases echo the brand's signature curves and fluid forms. Over time, the aluminium shells are intended to develop a distinctive patina, which Porsche Design likens to a car's mileage—each mark telling the story of unforgettable journeys. For those seeking a more understated aesthetic, the collection is also available in a matte black finish.
Flat TSA locks are pre-set to "911" as a subtle nod to the brand's legacy, seamlessly integrated into the minimalist exterior. Leather handles, detailed with visible stitching and padding, strike a balance between elegance and comfort. Even the opening mechanism has been fine-tuned for sensory appeal—the snap clasps emit a deliberate "thunk," designed to echo the satisfying sound of a Porsche door closing.
