Downstream weekly recap: Gestamp takes over one-third part of Gescrap ; Chinese aluminium is subject to new tariffs by the US and EU to combat climate change
The global aluminium industry’s most vital segment is the downstream part, which converts aluminium into manufacturing feedstock. This week the segment witnessed limited but significant events. Gestamp, a Spanish producer of automotive components, had acquired one-third of Gescrap, a company that recovers and recycles scrap metal. It was indicated that eliminating carbon emissions from the whole supply chain would significantly influence the decrease of mineral extraction from iron and aluminium. Aluplast-ZTG, an Altest firm with operations in Bulgaria, purchased second Nitrex nitriding equipment to fulfil the clients' demand for its extrusion profiles used in residential and commercial construction. The extruder installed new extrusion presses, which significantly increased its manufacturing capacity. However, on the other hand, the United States and the European Union (EU) are considering imposing new tariffs on Chinese steel and aluminium to curb carbon emissions and global overcapacity. The tariffs will be utilised to combat carbon emissions and global overcapacity.
Spanish automotive components supplier, Gestamp purchased one-third of Gescrap, a scrap recovery and recycling enterprise. It explained that the reduction of mineral extraction from iron and aluminium would bring a definitive impact by discarding carbon emissions from the entire supply chain.
The Bulgarian aluminium extruder, Aluplast-ZTG, an Altest company, recently procured a second Nitrex nitriding system. This resulted from the extruder gaining a big manufacturing boost after installing new extrusion presses to meet customer demand for its extrusion profiles used in residential and commercial construction.
In an effort to reduce carbon emissions and global overcapacity, both United States and the European Union (EU) were considering imposing fresh tariffs on Chinese aluminium and steel. The move will be a novel approach as both nations will be using this tariff to fight carbon emissions and global overcapacity.
