"The large F-150 broke the ice; however economies of scale will make smaller vehicles (Wrangler) more valuable over time." Aluminium is considered to be much safer than PVC window and doors and more over easily recyclable qualifying as sustainable and therefore branded as green metal. Because of...

Aluminium makers bang drum for “friendly” energy policy

Aluminium makers are feeling perky after a good year for energy policy, according to the trade body ALFED. On Friday the group blamed carbon cutting laws for making the UK “globally uncompetitive” over the last decade and leading to the UK’s primary aluminium producing capacity dropping 87%. ALFED praised the recent “Made in Britain” Budget, moves to encourage more apprenticeships, the Chancellor’s compensation package for energy intensive users for the costs of energy taxes and a cap on the Carbon Price Floor at £18 per tonne. Will Savage, CEO of ALFED said: “It is now clear that the current UK Government regards manufacturing as a sector which can deliver wealth to the UK economy.” He warned: “But there is more to be done and we need to remain on guard. We’re going to be stepping up our...

Aluminum demand underpins by improving economy, emissions rules: BofAML

Demand for aluminum is underpinned by an improving economy and tighter emissions regulations for automobiles, said Bank of America Merrill Lynch. The fundamental backdrop outside of China has especially improved, and the bank says the world excluding China may post a 590,000-metric-ton supply deficit this year after a 3.2 million-ton surplus in 2009. “Focusing on demand, the rebound in offtake was of course heavily influenced by a recovery of economic activity, highlighted also in aluminum demand's beta of two times global GDP growth,” the bank added. “The cyclical boost has been mirrored in a high correlation between global vehicle sales and the metal's consumption as well.” In addition to higher vehicle production, the sector’s shift toward lighter vehicles, in order to meet emissions...

On February 17 this year, Chairman of Midal Cables has met state industry department secretary in this regard and had sought support in terms of hot metal supply contract from Nalco. "A confirmation from Nalco for execution of hot metal supply contract with Midal cables has become inevitable at this juncture for operationalisation of Park," said Vishal K Dev, state industries secretary in a letter to Nalco Chairman and Managing...
