How Dhaatu Fabex turns 100% NALCO metal into India’s aluminium extrusion advantage

Aluminium extrusion is quietly powering the global sustainability shift, ranging from solar mounting systems and renewable energy infrastructure to aerospace, electrification, industrial automation and next-generation mobility. Its combination of low weight, durability and recyclability makes aluminium sit at the core of this shift. Against this backdrop, India’s aluminium extrusion industry is gaining momentum, with Dhaatu Fabex emerging as one of the companies strengthening the country’s position in the global aluminium extrusion market. Dhaatu Fabex Pvt. Ltd is an Odisha-based producer of engineered aluminium extrusions and alloy billets, positioning itself in higher-value applications including renewable energy, automotive, aerospace, electrical systems and industrial automation....

Europe holds 10% of global aluminium extrusion demand, supported by Germany’s Constellium, France’s Hydro Extrusions & Italy’s Metra

Across Europe, aluminium extrusion has become closely woven into some of the region’s biggest industrial and construction markets. From automotive and transport to buildings and industrial applications, extruded profiles are finding demand across a wide range of sectors. This is reflected in Europe’s position in the global market: the region accounted for 12 per cent of global aluminium extrusion capacity, making it the second-largest regional contributor after China. At the same time, Europe represented 10 per cent of global aluminium extrusion usage, out of total global usage of 35.35 million tonnes . With production capacity and usage shares relatively close, Europe’s extrusion capacity and consumption are broadly at par. If we break down Europe’s 10 per cent share of global aluminium...

Aluminium rod plants stop production in Henan on smog alert escalation

According to Shanghai Metals Market, all aluminium rod plants in Jiaozuo of China’s top aluminium-producing province Henan are required to halt production, as the city has escalated smog alert to the highest level from 18: 00 CST December 23, 2019. Under the red alert for heavy air pollution, industrial enterprises are asked to cut pollution emission by no less than 30 per cent. When the anti-smog measures will be lifted is, however, still not known. As per another report from SMM yesterday, on December 23, Tangshan has begun to implement level II smog control measures. This comes after the city lifted its last round of anti-smog measures of the same scale last Tuesday, December 17, which lasted for four days. A production cut of at least 50 per cent is imposed on blast furnaces of steel...

Recap 2019: Top downstream and recycling aluminium projects in 2019

Continued from Part I Almost all major aluminium producers are expanding into downstream and independent semi-finished aluminium projects are coming up to cater to the growing aluminium demand in recent years. The steady growth in aluminium demand was mostly driven by automakers’ focus on making lightweight, fuel-efficient vehicles, which can adhere to stricter carbon emission standards leading to material substitution, i.e. aluminium instead of steel. It was further enhanced by growing expansion of high speed transport systems and a shift towards electro-mobility. Though currently the automotive market is down because of the slowdown in global economy, China is forecasted to produce 35 million vehicles by 2025 and electric vehicles would account for about seven million or 20% of the...
