Dongxing Aluminum Longxi Branch receives National Green Factory title for sustainable approaches

The Department of Energy Conservation and Comprehensive Utilization of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology recently revealed the national list of green manufacturing in 2023, with Dongxing Aluminum Longxi Branch making the cut as a National Green Factory.

In order to promote environmentally friendly and low-carbon development, Longxi Branch has been working hard to optimize production processes and technologies, reduce resource consumption, and minimize waste emissions. The company has upgraded the rectifier unit of its 240kA rectifier station in a green, automatic, and intelligent manner.

This has not only solved safety issues that were present in the original rectifier system but also improved the rectifier efficiency of the 240kA rectifier unit. Thanks to these efforts, the energy consumption per tonne of aluminium in 240kA series production lines has been reduced by roughly 130kWh.

The alumina conveying system is undergoing a green carbon reduction transformation project. The project aims to build three sets of 400kA series and two sets of 240kA series fresh alumina pneumatic chute conveying systems equipped with bucket elevator and dust removal facilities. Each pneumatic chute will have a conveying capacity of 60t/h, and the dust emission concentration of the dust removal system will be below 10mg/Nm.

The successful implementation of this project will result in a reduction of 31kWh power consumption per tonne of aluminium. Additionally, through technical transformation, the company's comprehensive AC unit consumption of aluminium liquid has been reduced to 13,425 kWh per tonne Al, which is much lower than the national standard.

Longxi Branch has been working towards building a garden-style factory by promoting tree planting and greening within the factory area. They have also upgraded the hazardous waste warehouse, standardized the transfer and disposal of hazardous waste, and strengthened the control of the electrolytic cell production process to prevent air pollution. The branch aims to improve the green level by saving energy and water, achieving clean production, preventing pollution, and utilizing resources. They are striving to achieve the goal of peak carbon dioxide emissions and carbon neutrality to become a national green factory.
