
After remaining restrained for a day, the average alumina spot price in China is back with a drop of RMB 2 per tonne to RMB 2,566 per tonne, found Shanghai Metals Market. In the east, the price has declined by RMB 10 per tonne to RMB 2,565 per tonne; while in the other parts of China, the price chose to remain unchanged, respectively, at RMB 2,575 per tonne and RMB 2,520 per tonne.

The Australian alumina FOB price also continues to remain restrained at US$ 303 per tonne, as of Thursday, March 19.
The A00 aluminium ingot price, on the other hand, has seen a plunge like never before. According to SMM data, the price has crashed down by RMB 790 per tonne to come to the lowest at RMB 11,730 per tonne, attributing to the muted demand and transaction amongst downstream consumers amid COVID-19. The average prices are expected to range between RMB 11,710 per tonne and RMB 11,750 per tonne, with spot contract to be traded at a discount and premium price of RMB 40-0 per tonne.

Wuxi has seen the highest decline of RMB 850 per tonne to RMB 11,660 per tonne, followed by Hangzhou, Foshan, and Tianjin, where the price has decreased by RMB 830 per tonne to RMB 11,690 per tonne, by RMB 820 per tonne to RMB 11,620 per tonne, and by RMB 810 per tonne to RMB 11,740 per tonne, respectively.
In Chongqing, Gongyi, Shenyang, and Linyi, the primary aluminium ingot price has plummeted by RMB 770 per tonne, RMB 755 per tonne, RMB 750 per tonne, and RMB 670 per tonne, respectively.
Since the collapse in the aluminium prices has touched upon all its products, the prices of aluminium alloys are least spared by the hit. The aluminium alloy (A356) price has registered a fall of RMB 750 per tonne to RMB 12,450 per tonne and the prices of aluminium alloys (ADC12) and aluminium alloy (A380) have decreased by RMB 200 per tonne to RMB 14,300 per tonne and RMB 15,150 per tonne, respectively.
