
China’s export of light gauge aluminium foils are falling because of anti-dumping duty imposed by India and anti-dumping investigation by the US. The anti- dumping measures on aluminium foils affected the overseas export orders in China. Recently, aluminium processors told SMM that the measures against China have started affecting their export orders.
Aluminium foil in Shandong province has been affected for the first time in recent years. The number of cases involved with anti-dumping and anti-subsidy investigations into aluminium foil from Shandong totalled $140 million during the first five months of 2017.

Zhejiang Zhongjin Aluminum, manufacturer and exporter of aluminium household foil, is expecting a fall in its exports over 40 per cent in July. Luoyang Longding Aluminum is adjusting product portfolio and now focuses on domestic air-conditioner foil market in order to counter falling exports, reported by an SMM.
The comparative analysis of aluminium foil export by China in the first two quarters of 2016-17 and FY 2017-18 is given below.


According to the estimated data, China exported an estimated 260009 tonnes of aluminium foils in Q1 2016-17. Compared to that, export is expected to increase to 270976 tonnes in Q1 2017-18. For Q2 2016-17, China exported 252182 tonnes of aluminium foil. Compared to that, export is estimated to increase to 273693 tonnes in Q2 2017-18.

The value of aluminium foil export by China stood at USD 789.38 million Q1 2016-17. Compared to that, the value of export is estimated to stand at USD 780.31 million in Q1 2017-18. For Q2 2016-17, China’s export value of aluminium foils stood at USD 774.70 million. Compared to that, export value is forecasted to reach 781.49 million tonnes in Q2 2017-18.
