China’s average alumina spot price grows by RMB6/t to RMB3,004/t; A00 aluminium ingot price expands by RMB160/t

On Friday, December 22, China's average alumina spot price increased by RMB 6 per tonne after remaining unchanged since December 19. As per the data, the alumina price as of today has clocked at RMB 3,004 per tonne, followed by a growth of RMB 10 per tonne in Shandong and Shanxi to close at RMB 2,955 per tonne and RMB 3,020 per tonne. In Henan the alumina price has added RMB 5 per tonne to settle at RMB 3,015 per tonne.

Previously, SMM had predicted that the overall aluminium production in December may record a Y-o-Y ascend of 3.5 per cent. China's total aluminium production in 2023 is predicted to be 41.5 million tonnes, a 3.6% increase year on year. This can be one of the reasons for the growth in the price of alumina.

As per the Shanghai Metals Market (SMM), China's A00 aluminium ingot price has hiked by RMB 160 per tonne to peg at RMB 19,120 per tonne, with the average prices standing between RMB 19,100 per tonne and RMB 19,140 per tonne. On the same day, the spot contract prices may be traded at a discount price of RMB 50 to RMB 10 per tonne.

The domestic aluminium ingot prices have shown growth in all the provinces. In Wuxi, Hangzhou, Chongqing and Linyi, the prices have heightened by RMB 160 per tonne to come in at RMB 19,100 per tonne, RMB 19,120 per tonne and RMB 19,170 per tonne. Going by the SMM graph, the prices in Gongyi and Shenyang have grown to RMB 150 per tonne and RMB 140 per tonne, halting at RMB 19,120 per tonne and RMB 19,080 per tonne. In Foshan, the price has added RMB 110 per tonne to stop at RMB 19,120 per tonne. The A00 aluminium ingot price has remained unchanged at RMB 18,980 per tonne in Tianjin.

The domestic price of low-carbon aluminium has surged by RMB 163 per tonne to rest at RMB 19,929 per tonne. The aluminium powder price has inched up by RMB0.1 per kg to settle at RMB 21.7 per kg, with the average prices standing between RMB 21.6 per kg and RMB 21/8 per kg.

On the same day, the high-purity aluminium (99.99%) price and high-purity aluminium (99.996%) price gained RMB 100 per tonne to peg at RMB 26,800 per tonne and RMB 27,800 per tonne. As per the SMM price graph, the price of aluminium alloy (A356) have grown by RMB 150 per tonne to settle at RMB 19,800 per tonne with the average prices standing between RMB 19,600 per tonne and RMB 20,000 per tonne. 

For aluminium alloys (ADC12) and (A380), the prices have hiked by RMB 100 per tonne to clock at RMB 19,900 per tonne and RMB 20,900 per tonne. For (ADC12), the average prices may orbit between RMB 19,800 per tonne and RMB 20,000 per tonne, and for (A380), the average prices may stand between RMB 20,800 per tonne and RMB 21,000 per tonne.
