China’s A00 aluminium ingot price closes the week higher at RMB20770/t; Alumina price drops by RMB3/t

A00 aluminium ingot price has increased by RMB 260 per tonne to come in at RMB 20,770 per tonne on Friday, May 20, marking the third consecutive day of rise, found the Shanghai Metals Market (SMM). The average prices are estimated to range between RMB 20,750 per tonne and RMB 20,790 per tonne, with spot contracts to be trade at a discount price of RMB 30 per tonne and a premium price of RMB 10 per tonne.

A00 aluminium ingot price has risen the highest in Gyongyi by RMB 270 per tonne, settling at RMB 20,780 for the day. Wuxi and Hang Zhou have recorded RMB 260 per tonne hikes resulting in the ingot prices at RMB 20,770 per tonne and RMB 20,820 per tonne, respectively. Primary aluminium ingot price in Foshan has escalated by RMB 240 per tonne to come in at RMB 20,760 per tonne, while the price in Chong Qing and Linyi has increased by RMB 230 per tonne to stand at RMB 20,740 per tonne and RMB 20,820 per tonne, respectively. The price in Shen Yang and Tian Jin has augmented by RMB 200 per tonne, amounting to RMB 20,680 per tonne for the former and RMB 20,720 per tonne.

According to the data shown by SMM, the price of low carbon aluminium has heightened by RMB 240 per tonne to stop at RMB 21,363 per tonne on May 20. High purity aluminium (99.99%) price has augmented by RMB 300 per tonne to rest at RMB 28,800 per tonne, with average prices to range between RMB 28,300 per tonne and RMB 29,300 per tonne.  

On the other hand, the average alumina spot price has seen a drop of RMB 3 per tonne to stand at RMB 3,007 per tonne on Friday, May 20. The alumina price in Henan and Shanxi has decreased by RMB 5 per tonne to record at RMB 3,070 per tonne and RMB 2,945 per tonne, respectively.

Among other primary aluminium input costs, aluminium powder price has gained RM 0.30 per kg to settle at RMB 22.6 per kg. The average prices are expected to range between RMB 22.5 per kg and 22.7 per kg.

Backed on the hike in primary aluminium ingot price, aluminium alloy (A356) price has closed the week at RMB 21,950 per tonne as of May 20. The average prices are likely to range between RMB 21,800 per tonne and RMB 22,100 per tonne, learned SMM.

However, aluminium alloys (ADC12) price and aluminium alloy (A380) price have remained muted at RMB 21,300 per tonne and RMB 22,300 per tonne, respectively.
