China alumina and aluminium output up in September; A00 aluminium ingot prices dip across all markets today

The average price for A00 aluminium ingot drops to RMB 16,050/tonne today after a substantial rise on October 13. A00 Aluminium Ingot in spot China market is trading at discounts of RMB 200 - 160/t. A00 aluminium ingot prices across all markets have dropped substantially. Today’s aluminium A00 Aluminum prices across the various markets in China are presented in the table below:

Shanghai Metals Market Statistics shows that average spot alumina prices in China remains unchanged on October 17 at RMB 3694/t. On October 17, Chalco alumina price has increased further to RMB3690/tonne from RMB 3650/tonne. Spot alumina prices remain unchanged in all other individual markets in China.

According to a Shanghai Metals Market, Henan Province, Binzhou and Zibo city of Shandong Province have introduced the time of production limit and the number of limited production line up to October 16. The government has asked for annual 10.34 million tonnes production limit. SMM has calculated the actual capacity of limited production and considering actual operating capacity, the actual reduced annual capacity stands at 8.2 million tonnes. Liaochen City, Shandong Province and Changzhi City, Shanxi province have not introduced detailed plan.

According to the latest SMM data, China’s aluminium output for September 2017 stands at 2.9 million tonnes, up 7.9% YoY and alumina output stands at 5.7 million tonnes, up 17% YoY. YTD output data through September stands at 51.1 million tonnes for alumina and 27.4 million tonnes for aluminium. China’s alumina and aluminium output for October 2017 is estimated to stand at 5.9 and 2.9 million tonnes respectively.
