Recently, the newly-elected Korba legislator, Lakhanlal Dewangan, has reportedly taken the initiative to revive the plan, following which the state government has inked an agreement with Bharat Aluminium Company Limited (BALCO) to supply primary aluminium to small industries at a subsidised rate.

The plan is to allow small-scale industries to install their plants in the Park to produce aluminium products using primary metal from BALCO.

“An initial provision of INR 5 crore has been made in the budget proposal of the industry department for the financial year 2024-25 to meet the much-awaited demand of Aluminum Park in Korba district,” Dewangan said.

He added the process would start soon, and the government would ensure the earliest execution of the project.

This project is expected to lift the production of a myriad of products in one place. Using locally-made raw aluminium, the Park will manufacture various kinds of aluminium products in Korba.

Besides, this project will induce huge investment in Korba as local and outside industrialists will set up plants in the Park.

BALCO, owned by the Indian government and Vedanta, produces 570,000 tonnes of aluminium annually and plans to enhance the capacity to 1 million tonnes per annum.
