Benada delays restart of cast house

Benada Aluminum Products LLC has delayed the restart of its idled cast house in Sanford, Fla.,due to weakness in the marketplace, a company executive told AMM.
Benada, which purchased the cast house as part of its June acquisition of the former assets of Florida Extruders International Inc. (FEI), had originally hoped to bring the cast house online by the end of the summer (AMM, June 28). However, decreasing billet demand and seasonality led the extruder to postpone the ramp-up, president and chief executive officer Monte Friedkin said.
