Mount Ridley Mines has reported 94.9 per cent gallium recovery from a third-party bauxite sample using its patent-pending Selectro process, alongside recoveries of 92 per cent aluminium and 97 per cent iron in a single low-temperature leach. The test also produced a silica-rich residue instead of conventional red mud, highlighting the technology’s potential to recover multiple metals from bauxite through one processing route. The sample was provided by Australian Silica Quartz Group from its Darling Range bauxite project in Western Australia. Karnataka state chief secretary T M Vijay Bhaskar has directed Dakshina Kannada district administration and the mines and geology department to look into the complaint on illegal transportation of red bauxite from the district. National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO) reported net profit of INR 107.45 crore in Q2 of FY21. Revenue stood at INR 2375 crore, marking a hike of 72% from INR 1381 crore in the first quarter of FY21. Ukraine imported 4.03 million tonnes of aluminium ores and concentrate (bauxite) in the first ten months of 2020. That was an increase of 6.2% year-on-year, according to statistics released by the State Customs Service. Bauxite imports in monetary terms rose to $190.937 million January-October, a growth of 5%. Metro Mining reported production and shipping results for September quarter 2020. On 26 th October’20, Jamaican Bauxite mining company, Jamalco mobilised work crews and equipment to remove a train that derailed between the communities of Rymesbury and Gravel Hill in Clarendon amid the recent heavy rains. On the crash site late Monday afternoon, Jamalco representatives were observed putting in place the necessary equipment, including generators and spotlights, to assist in the process of removing the train from the tracks. Jamalco also placed security personnel at the site, which is approximately 800 metres from the Rymesbury main road, where two trucks offloaded gravel to be used in the creation of a path along the train tracks for vehicles to drive. Rymesbury residents said damage to the train tracks during the downpour caused the bauxite train to derail.
