China’s alumina price opens the month of August with a rise of RMB4/t; A00 aluminium ingot price heightens to RMB18580/t
The domestic average alumina spot price in China has recorded an increase of RMB 4 per tonne on Tuesday, August 1, to reach RMB 2,876 per tonne, found the Shanghai Metals Market data. Africa’s primary aluminium output in June quarter declines 2% Y-o-Y; daily output shrinks by 300 tonnes
According to the International Aluminium Institute data, primary aluminium production in Africa during the second quarter of 2023 totalled 397,000 tonnes, up by 5,000 tonnes or 1.28 per cent from 392,000 tonnes in Q1. But the daily average output in Q2 remained restrained sequentially at 13,100 tonnes. On a year-on-year calculaton, the quarterly production of primary aluminium in Africa during Q2 edged a fall of 1.98 per cent from 405,000 tonnes. Jamestrong, a leading Australasian can manufacturer with plants in Taree, is teaming up with the UNSW Centre for Sustainable Materials Research and Technology (SMaRT@UNSW) to produce aerosol cans using the University's recycling technologies. The partnership aims to utilise any kind of daily and basic post-consumer scrap as a raw material for making aerosol cans, like contact lens casing or food packaging. World primary aluminium production maintains 1.8% growth rate in Q2 2023 amid drooping output in June
World primary aluminium production in the second quarter of 2023 ended June 30, amounted to 17.259 million tonnes, up by 1.8 per cent from 16.953 million tonnes in Q1 2023, found the International Aluminium Institute survey. On an annual basis, the output in 1Q2023 edged an increase of 1.06 per cent from 17.078 million tonnes.
