Electric vehicles sales in India jump 20% in FY20, driven by electric two-wheelers
Electric vehicle sales in India have reportedly recorded a growth of 20 per cent to 156,000 units in the financial year 2019-20, largely driven by the sales of electric two-wheelers that form bulk of the nascent industry. Of 156,000 units, electric two-wheelers sales accounted for 152,000 units during the fiscal, up 20.7 per cent from the last year, while electric cars accounted for 3,400 units, down from 3,600 units in the year ago. Electric bus sales were 600 units compared to 400 units in the financial year 2018-19. New-car sales in Europe’s major markets in March dwindled by 52 per cent, attributing to the lockdowns imposed for the containment of COVID19, showed a data on Friday, April 17. According to Shanghai Metals Market, China’s secondary aluminium operating rates in March rebounded 29.2 percentage points from February to come in at 47.32 per cent. Wenshan Aluminium’s 500,000 tonnes of smelting project soon to start the first potline
According to a recent report, Wenshan Aluminium’s 500,000 tonnes of aluminium smelting and hydropower project in southeast Yunnan’s Wenshan prefecture will start the operation of its first potline at the end of April. The project is estimated to require a total of more than RMB 4 billion of investment, as per the report. Yunnan Aluminium’s subsidiary Wenshan Aluminium runs an alumina refinery as well, which in the first quarter of 2020 produced 266,000 tonnes of alumina.
