Aluminum Association completes 104 members with the addition of six new companies

3MINS READ
The Aluminum Association announced the addition of six new members, completing a total membership of 104 member companies, a record for the 82-year-old trade association, which represents the North American aluminum industry. These additions come amidst continued demand improvement for the broader industry. According to recent preliminary Aluminum Association data, the North American aluminum industry shipped an estimated 25.5 billion pounds of aluminum in 2014, the most since 2006 and reflecting 5 percent year-over-year demand growth. From the 2009 baseline, demand in the U.S. and Canada has risen nearly 40 percent.

The new member companies reflect the scope and breadth of today’s global aluminum industry. Two of the new companies join the Association as producer members – firms that make or fabricate aluminum – while the remaining four join as associate members – firms that supply the industry with goods and services.

The new producer members are:
Aluminium Bahrain (Alba): Based in the Kingdom of Bahrain, Aluminium Bahrain B.S.C. (Alba) consistently ranks as one of the largest and most modern aluminum smelters in the world.
Southwire: Southwire Company, LLC is North America’s leading manufacturer of wire and cable used in the distribution and transmission of electricity.

The new associate members are:
Foshan Langdun Aluminum Fabrication Equipment: Foshan Langdun Aluminum Fabrication Equipment Co., Ltd from China is a professional manufacturer of aluminum melting, casting and extrusion related equipment.
Quickdraft: Headquartered in Canton, Ohio, Quickdraft engineers and manufactures pneumatic conveying systems for automobile plants, aluminum mills and other aluminum fabrication facilities for aluminum recycling applications.
Steelscape: Steelscape is a national supplier of metallic-coated and pre-painted steel and other metals.
Taylor-Winfield: Taylor-Winfield is an OEM manufacturer of aluminum coil joining and material handling equipment.

“This is an exciting time to be working in aluminum and our steady membership growth reflects that,” said Heidi Brock, President & CEO of the Aluminum Association. “These company additions will bring even more voices to the table as we strive to serve the interests of this dynamic and growing industry.”

Since 2013, Aluminum Association member companies have announced domestic plant expansions and planned investment totaling more than $2.3 billion. These investments will create more than 1,000 permanent and temporary jobs. The increase in investment is intended to capture and meet anticipated demand growth for aluminum in the automotive sector as automakers strive to make lighter and more fuel-efficient vehicles. The investments announced to date could increase industry auto sheet capacity by more than 2 billion pounds over the next decade.
