Out of the total shipments, aluminium mill product shipments rose 6 per cent over the previous year to 667,234 tonnes. Shipments of aluminium ingot for castings, exports and destructive uses increased 8 per cent year-over-year to 328,401 tonnes.

For the period of January to October 2018, preliminary total producer shipments increased about three per cent to an estimated 9.4 million tonnes over the 2017 year-to-date total. October inventory levels stood at an estimated 1.5 million tonnes, slightly up over the previous month and 10 per cent up year-over-year.

It is to be noted that aluminium and aluminium products output and shipment has significantly increased after the imposition of Trump’s 10 per cent tariffs on imported aluminium. Aluminium demand was up by three per cent in the first three quarters of 2018.
