
According to the latest report from Aluminum Association, shipments of aluminium powder and paste to domestic markets stood at 6.27 million pounds during January 2017. The number includes imports by domestic producers. This reported an increase of about 12% over the January 2016 total of 5.60 million pounds. Month on month; shipments rose about 7% from December 2016.

Shipments for the full year 2016 stood at 75.15 million pounds, off 18.2% from the 2015 total of 91.84 million pounds. Compared to January 2016, shipments of powder to domestic markets increased 10.4% to 5.20 million pounds, while shipments of paste were up 19.1% to 1.06 million pounds.
Aluminium net shipments (including exports) by domestic U.S. and Canadian facilities totalled an estimated 1,980 million pounds during January, up 3.2% over January 2016. Shipments of aluminium mill products increased 4.1%t over 2015 to 1,302 million pounds. Shipments of aluminium ingot for castings, exports and destructive uses increased 1.5% YOY, totalling 679 million pounds.

Preliminary producer shipments in 2016 stood at 23,460 million pounds, up 1.8% over 2015. January inventory levels stood at an estimated 2,886 million pounds, down 6.1% from December 2016 and down 2.6% YOY.
