
In September 2022, alumina production in Africa & Asia (ex-China) stood at 1.121 million tonnes, registering a downfall of 6.27 per cent month-on-month but an increase of 1.91 per cent year-on-year, found the International Aluminium Institute data.

In August 2022, Africa & Asia’s (ex-China) alumina output was 1.196 million tonnes, also down by 0.42 per cent from 1.201 million tonnes. That showed alumina output in Africa & Asia (ex-China) recorded a consistent month-on-month downfall through July-September 2022, bringing the total volume of production in Q3 to 3.518 million tonnes.
On a quarter-on-quarter calculation, Africa & Asia’s (ex-China) alumina production in the third quarter of 2022 edged 0.34 per cent lower than 3.530 million tonnes. However, on a year-on-year basis, the output reflected an increase of 5.01 per cent from 3.350 million tonnes.
In the first nine months of 2022, total alumina output in Africa & Asia (ex-China) came in at 10.360 million tonnes, up by 5.67 per cent from 9.804 million tonnes during the same period last year.
Daily average production in September stood at 37,400 tonnes, which reflected a decrease of 3.11 per cent from 38,600 tonnes a month ago but an increase of 5.18 per cent from 36,700 tonnes a year earlier.
