Altech appoints German service provider Leadec as lead engineer for its CERENERGY project

Altech Chemicals Limited has chosen leading German company Leadec Automation & Engineering GmbH (Leadec) as the primary engineer to conduct the Definitive Feasibility Study for its CERENERGY(R) 100MWh Sodium Alumina Solid State Battery project enabling grid energy storage. The project is presently being hoisted in Saxony, Germany.

Leadec is a German maestro that can provide specialised services for factories throughout their entire running phase, emphasising more on the unit's infrastructure. For the last six decades, this German service provider has been assisting its customers in the production sector by looking after a factory's work plan, installation and automation-related issues.

Various OEMs, suppliers in the arena of battery production and people from the e-mobility sector depend on the expertise of Leadec to yield precise, good-quality products. The company has wings spread over the cell production, module and pack production industry, where it lends recycling and battery dismemberment solutions. Leadec has more than 20,000 efficient employees globally and almost 300 locations all over the globe where on-site workers take care of major operations.

Last month, on September 14, Altech declared a Joint Venture (JV) with the globally-acclaimed German Battery institute Fraunhofer IKTS to make its patent CERENERGY ® Sodium Alumina Solid State Battery available to the retail market. It has been estimated that Altech will hold a 75 per cent stake in the JV recently formed and will help commercialise the 100 MWh project designated to be built on Altech's land in Schwarze Pumpe, Germany.

There is no doubt that CERENERGY (R) batteries are more feasible than lithium-ion batteries for storing grid energy.

CERENERGY (R) batteries are heat-resistant and explosion-proof, harbouring more than fifteen years of life. These batteries can endure extreme weather conditions and use table salt instead of lithium in the making. Other than that, these batteries are graphite-free, cobalt-free and copper-free, thus discarding the concept of being exposed to the fluctuating critical materials prices and other supply chain discrepancies. 

Leadec has readily allotted a project team with strong foundations, and site visits or technology queries with Fraunhofer IKTS have already been checked. The Leadec team has also attended a two-day project workshop arranged in Schwarze Pumpe by Altech, where Managing Director Iggy Tan confirmed the team's steady advancement with the job.
