Aleris’ performance in the downstream segment in Q3 2014

Their Q3 2014 revealed that their income in the Rolled Products North America (RPNA) department has increased to $26 million this year compared to $22 million last year at the same time. Their segment adjusted EBITDA also increased to $31 million this quarter from $20 million in Q3 2013. The increase has been primarily attributed to the Nichols acquisition as well as the improved demand in the building and construction and transportation industries.
In Europe too, the Rolled Products performed well where the third quarter segment income rose by $1 million YOY, from $37 to $38 million. The Segment adjusted EBITDA also increased by a million in the third quarter 2014 to $34 million compared to same time last year.
The Rolled Products segment in Asia Pacific has ramped up production rolling out around 3,800 tons of plate generating revenues of $16 million in Q3 2014.
The Extrusion segment income too has seen a leap from $3 million in last year’s Q3 to $4 million in 2014. The segment adjusted EBITDA however dipped to $2 million from last year’s $4 million in the third quarter.
