Despite the market volatility and trade tensions, Alba continued to perform profitably with operation efficiency and a well-managed market.

For the first half of 2018, total production reached 511,480 tonnes in comparison to 453,395 tonnes in H1 2017 (up by 13% YoY).  With this production rate, the company is expected to cross an annual aluminium production throughput of 1 million tonne.  The sales volume increased by 48,143 tonnes to about 501,232 tonnes for the first half of 2018.

Commenting on Alba’s operational performance in Q2 2018, Alba’s Chief Executive Officer, Tim Murray, said, “Thanks to our resilience, we have bounced-back stronger with double-digit increase in our production and sales volume. We aim to continue with the same momentum we kicked-off this year to finish 2018 stronger.”

Aluminium Bahrain B.S.C (Alba) will release the detailed second quarter 2018 Financial Results to the public on Monday July 23, 2018 as well as upload the presentation on its Investor Relations section of the website.

Alba’s Line 6 Expansion Project, which is expected to begin production by January 1st 2019, is one of the largest brownfield developments in the region. The expansion project will boost the smelter’s per-annum production by 540,000 metric tonnes, bringing its total production capacity to 1.5 million metric tonnes per year.
