In the wake of sustained expansion and success, Aluminium Bahrain B.S.C. (Alba), the world's biggest smelter outside of China and an employer of choice in the region, announced record-breaking 600-plus staff promotions for 2021 during a ceremony conducted on December 29, 2021, at the Company's premises.

Alba's Master Training Plan (started in 2019), Skills Matrix, Training & Development Programme (TDP), and the most recent, Al Jisr Programme, all had a role in the promotions (launched in 2020).
“Alba success relies on the strength of its employees and our business is as good as our human capital. We believe that by investing in our nationals, we will be preparing them to shape our culture and keep us on course as the number one Aluminium supplier for the generations to come,” said Alba’s Chief Executive Officer Ali Al Baqali.
“I truly believe that our culture has everything to do with our bottom-line – today and in the future. Despite the unforeseen challenges of COVID-19 since 2020, Alba has made commendable efforts to ensure that its Training and Development objectives remained on track through virtual platforms and e-learning solutions. It is truly noteworthy that in 2021, Alba achieved more than 581,000 training hours and a company-wide 6.5% of total work hours being allocated to employee capacity building activities – one of the highest in the industrial sector in Bahrain,” added Ali Al Baqali.
Alba has one of Bahrain's largest national workforces, with over 3,200 employees, 84% of whom are Bahraini citizens.
