A00 Ingot prices drop across all Chinese markets, alumina continues its upward track

After two consecutive price rises in last two days after China market reopened on October 9, A00 Aluminium Ingot prices dropped across all major markets. The average price of A00 Aluminium Ingot dropped to stand at RMB 16,130/t from RMB 16,260/t on October 10. The average price of A00 Aluminium Ingot would range between RMB 16,240 – 16,280/tonne.

According to Shanghai Metals Market, spot discounts in east China aluminium market narrowed notably today due to drops in SHFE 1710 aluminium prices and nearing of delivery of SHFE 1710 aluminium. Discounts of RMB 130-110/tonne over SHFE 1710 aluminium were offered in East China market.Trading was down as traders showed low buying interest due to low price and downstream producers completed post-holiday restocking.

Mainstream traded prices were RMB 16,110-16,130/tonne in Shanghai, versus RMB 16,110-16,130 /tonne in Wuxi and RMB 16,160-16,180/tonne in Hangzhou. Today’s aluminium A00 Aluminum prices across the various markets in China are presented in the table below:

However, despite the drop in aluminium price, Shanghai Metals Market Statistics shows the average spot alumina price continues to rise slowly through October. On October 11, the average alumina price stands at RMB 3639/tonne, an increase of RMB 37/tonne from the last closed RMB 3602/tonne.

In the imported alumina market; monthly average price stands at RMB 3345/tonne and today’s price stands at RMB 3650/tonne, an increase of RMB 150/tonne from the last closed RMB 3500/tonne.
