The third quarter brought a clear improvement in global alumina production. It did not, however, bring production back to the level recorded a year earlier. Global alumina output has reached 114.625 million tonnes in the first nine months of 2026, down 330,000 tonnes or 0.29% (114.955 million tonnes in 2025) year-on-year. China's estimated production increased, but declines across most other reporting regions erased that gain. The quarterly sequence reveals how the production gap has developed. In the July to September 2026 quarter, alumina output reached 39.396 million tonnes, an increase of 5.54% over the preceding quarter. Yet the same quarter in 2025 had delivered 39.675 million tonnes. The latest production total was therefore 279,000 tonnes lower Y-o-Y. The first quarter of 2026...

As per the latest reports, on July 29, line 2 at Hydro's partially-owned aluminium facility in Brazil, Albras, was resumed fully. The production line was closed on February 19, 2022, due to an internal power distribution failure. A full closure of line 2 caused by the power outage resulted in a 25 per cent reduction in Albras' primary aluminium production. Albras has fully resumed production at the potline and is currently operating at its maximum annual capacity of 460,000 tonnes. The power distribution breakdown had affected only one potline at Albras, which caused it to shut down. Due to the outrage, the affected potline generated 110,000 tonnes of liquid aluminium yearly. Nippon Amazon Aluminium Co. Ltd. owns the remaining 49 per cent of Albras, with Norsk Hydro owning 51 per cent of...

Russia is reportedly willing to build connectivity, capital markets, and financial infrastructure with India, similar to the model built over decades with Europe. According to Russian aluminium tycoon Oleg Deripaska, this relation will benefit both the countries, accentuating bilateral trade to $120-150 billion over the next decade. Over the several decades, Russia has been having trade relations with Europe, achieving annual bilateral trade from 750 billion to 1 trillion, said the founder of aluminium giant Rusal. Prior to this economic cooperation, Russia and Europe were involved in a 12-year integration process, wherein the countries built common transport, financial and debt infrastructure, and harmonised trade procedures. Deripaska further said in a statement that the two countries...

Aluminium is one of the most profitable metals to scrap and it is the most vital input material to the recycling process. Aluminium scrap is generally labelled as ‘new scrap’ from production processes and ‘old scrap’ from post-consumer use. New scrap arises during the manufacturing of aluminium semi-fabricated and final products. Now, depending on the type of scrap and the desired product quality, various types of furnaces for melting aluminium scrap are used. Bosnia Herzegovina has many mineral resources, including bauxite, iron ore, copper, lead, zinc, and lignite, despite its relatively nominal size. The metal processing sector, which incorporates ferrous and non-ferrous metals, is the most valuable segment of the mining industry. The mineral industry is the largest of goods by value...

Aluminium serves as a tool for limitless creativity for architects. Buildings may be significantly more relaxed throughout the summer because aluminium reflects sunlight, which can lead to lower power expenses. It also has a very high strength-to-weight ratio, making it an excellent choice for building materials and showing how even a modest bit of aluminium can strengthen a building. Located in Singapore, the 3ASH House by Czarl Architects is a striking structure with a masculine appearance. Partially covered in a latticed aluminium screen, whose angular components contribute an uneven rhythm that quietly harmonises with its surroundings, the sprawling architecture has been created using natural materials. Latticework is an openwork structure made of crisscrossing strips of construction...
