Zhengzhou Research Institute recently hosted a seminar focused on revising the mandatory national standard, "Code for Safe Production of Aluminum Electrolysis" (GB29741-2013). During the seminar, Wang Huaijiang, the Institute's deputy general manager and safety director, outlined the primary objectives, content, and requirements, emphasising the importance of establishing effective norms and standards for the safe development of China's electrolytic aluminium industry.

The participants engaged in lively discussions on the revised specifications for aluminium electrolysis production, including technology, design, equipment, casting, and safety management. The seminar successfully achieved its intended goals and outcomes.
The project began in July 2021, spearheaded by the National Emergency Management Department and the Metallurgical Nonferrous Safety Sub-technical Committee of the National Safety Standards Committee. It received official approval from the Emergency Management Department on July 5, 2022.
On December 28, 2023, the National Standardization Administration formally issued the plan for the standard's preparation and revision, with the project number 20231701-Q-450. The project is receiving financial backing from the State Emergency Management Department and the General Administration of Market Supervision, with plans to complete the approval application process by the end of 2024.
