The year 2022 brings with it a beam of fresh hope and aspiration for the metal industry. It is anticipated that 2022 will have in store a lot of new investments, changes and projects in the metal industry. With this, team AlCircle has launched its latest research report, “Global Aluminium Industry Outlook 2022,” which provides an in-depth analysis and projection into the shaping of the aluminium industry in 2022, while keeping a tab on the earlier investments, policy changes and price trend.
{alcircleadd}New projects and development plans are anticipated to boost worldwide bauxite output by around 1.6% in 2022. The output for 2022 is expected to be 383 million tonnes in volume. With upcoming investments, bauxite output is expected to increase significantly, at a rate of roughly 4% per year in 2022 and 2023.
After China, Australia is the world's second-largest alumina producer. In 2020-21, the country will export around 18.6 million tonnes, up 4% from 17.9 million tonnes in 2019-20. For the years 2021-22 and 2022-23, Australia intends to export roughly 18.1 and 17.9 million tonnes, respectively.
As demand for the metal rises, the global aluminium sector is likely to enter a supply shortfall in 2022. Because warehouse supplies are diminishing, the primary aluminium sector is unlikely to fulfil the increased demand for the metal from China and throughout the world this year. Primary aluminium production in Western Europe was not adversely affected in 2021, but this is expected to change in 2022.
Aluminium demand is predicted to rise in 2022, however at a slower pace than in 2021. Due to supply chain challenges, limited stocks, and a semiconductor scarcity, the automotive industry is predicted to develop slowly in the first half of 2022. However, the second half of 2022 is likely to see strong growth. The global market for electric vehicles is predicted to increase rapidly in 2022 and subsequent years.
In 2021, the transportation industry took the lead with 27.3%, followed by the building and construction sector with 22.8%. The transportation industry is predicted to increase by 9.8% in 2022, followed by the packaging sector, which is expected to rise by 7.2%. Other end-user applications are expected to expand at a rate of 6 to 7% throughout the year. During the second half of 2022, the global vehicle sector is likely to recover to pre-Covid-19 growth levels.
As the car sector recovers, the use of recycled aluminium for casting applications is expected to rise in 2022. The global use of recycled aluminium grew from 24.3 million tonnes in 2020 to 26.0 million tonnes in 2021. In 2022, usage is predicted to rise by more than 27 million tonnes. China is the world's largest consumer of recycled aluminium. In 2021, the country used roughly 11 million tonnes of recycled aluminium, which is expected to rise to 14.5 million tonnes by 2026.
In a nutshell, the following points are covered by our “Global Aluminium Industry Outlook 2022”:
1. The Bauxite Market
2. The Alumina Market
3. The Primary aluminium Market
4. The Downstream Market
5. The End User Market
