
The Department of Industry and Information Technology of Shandong province announced on its website on June 14 that Shandong Weiqiao Group, one of the top aluminium producers in China, would replace its obsolete capacity by the end of the year.

As per the report, Weiqiao Group would disassemble 543,000 tonnes of primary aluminium capacity and replace with new capacity of 542,000 tonnes.
New capacity for replacement has finished construction and will expectedly come online once the obsolete capacity is removed in December. The disassembling work started in June.
Weiqiao will also install new equipment in place of its ageing production lines. It will install 190 sets of high-performing 600 KA electrolytic tanks, while maintaining current capacity.
